We drove on from there and ended up spending the night just over the border in New Mexico at Bighorn Campground in the Gila National Forest. Here are some sunset shots as we drove Eastward.
Again, we pulled in past dark so we couldn’t see the campground. In the morning we were very pleased. Another very cute campground that we can totally go back to for a relaxed visit.
From the campground, we drove through Datil for a quick break:
Then past the VLA:
And finally through Socorro and home.
And that was a wrap on the third epic Arnold journey in the Coyote.
Awesome VLA shot. 🙂
They were in perfect formation for pictures that day. Once when we went they were super far apart and much harder to get a good shot.
I was just mentioning to Pam a few days ago how much I would like to go see them, after watching Contact for the 1000th time 🙂
If only you knew someone in New Mexico that you could visit on your way to the VLA.
It’s been said that late in the day if you stand near the visitors’ dish and you close your eyes you can hear Jodie Foster singing.
