Las Huertas and Sandia Man Cave

Since we bought our motorhome we have not been as touristy around our home ground. My sister came to town for a week so we took her, my brother and his wife, and their two kiddos, to see the Sandia Man Cave in Las Huertas Canyon. It’s a nice easy drive to get around to the other side of the mountain and then an unpaved, just barely maintained road down through the canyon to a quaint town called Placitas and then back to Albuquerque.

Sandia Man Cave is a fairly easy walk back to a metal stairway built by the WPA (I think, I have no idea if this is true, just info I picked up along the way). The cave itself is of some archeological importance even though it’s mostly unmaintained.
